InReal Technologies - Virtual Reality Simulator

Inreal
WHAT: The simulator enables its users to immerse themselves in any virtual world and move around freely within, whilst in fact they always stay at the same spot. The simulator consists of three parts.

1) Head-mounted display (HMD): A HMD is a display device worn on the head that allows users to experience stereoscopic vision (realized through two small displays)

2) Motion capturing system: Motion capturing systems record movement and interpret it, so that a user of the virtual reality simulator is able to see his hand rising in the virtual world when he raises it in the real world

3) Motion simulator: The motion simulator is a device of about 2m x 1,5m x 2m which the user climbs into. It conveys that the person inside is able to move around and turn around freely while he almost remains in the same place in reality (similar principle for example for treadmills or hamster balls). InReal Technologies developed a forward-looking technology that targets existing problems other approaches are facing and filed a patent for the underlying technology

WHO: InReal was founded by Thomas Schander, Moritz Luck and Mike Beyhs

WHERE: The company is located in Karlsruhe, Germany
